I am piecing Eleanor Burns .Trip Around The World, quilt top.
It starts with 2 strips of five different fabrics. It says to press the seams away from fabric # 1 then cut the strips 4" wide and sew strip A to strip B. When you go to sew them together you can't butt the seams up against each other because they are both pressed going the same way. Should I stay with the directions or should I press row B the other way so the seams butt up against each other. Thank you so much for the help. |
Are you sure you are supposed to join them side by side? Or add b onto a?

Pics might help, if you can.

you cut the long strips, of five fabrics, every 4" across . strip A starts with fabric 1, strip B starts with fabric 2 then then when you sew them together each square is moved over 1 square in each row. They match up fine it's just that the seams match up on the same side and I thought you should always be able to butt them together so they lay flat.

Turn one strip around to the other end.

I watched the video and it is different than the older book I am using but Eleanor did iron all the seams so they nest together so that's what i'll do. Thanks everyone
