I'm sure some of you can help me...I've seen quilts that look like they are stacks of three-dimensional children's blocks...but don't know the name of the design so I can search for it. Any suggestions?

If it is tumbling blocks - there are a couple of versions - the one that grammatjr posted a link to - and then the "old" way of just using diamond shaped pieces (the ones with the 60 and 120 degree corner)

This one? I made Pat's quilt using the Y-seam method. It was therapeutic but also a bit of a challenge.

That's definitely the design I was thinking of...but WOW, what ever made me think I could do it? Yikes. I'm very impressed with yours!

cube in a corner?

Nana.. don't ever think you can't do that.. it's actually one of the easiest blocks there is. Are you machine or hand piecing? Either way, just stop at the corner, turn and go on.. don't let the so called Y seams fool you, they just aren't that difficult.. it's like anything else, practice makes perfect.

there's a cheater way, and when i find it, i'll set up the link.

this actually ends up being done in straight strips, with no 'y' seams.
