In my recent rumblings through my stash, I have found a box with Christmas fabbies that I didn't realize that I had. They are the leftovers from when I made quilted tree skirts as Christmas pressies 8 years ago.

So I have decided that I want to make something with them. I think a D9P will be the best for these pieces.

My question - the 'outside' of the blocks will all be scrappy.
Basically it will be -

dark light dark
light center light
dark light dark
and
light dark light
dark center dark
light dark light

So my question is - what do I make the center squares to tie it all together? I am trying to decide if I use a solid red or green? A red/green stripe? ??????? TIA

i think you have a great idea going. do you have any gold? if not, your red, green or any other you have on hand should work quite well.

I love the gol idea.
You could also alternate the centers - 1 in green and 1 in red to keep with the scrappy theme yet have some continuity

Depending if your scraps have any whites, creams or beiges you could do your center in one of these.

I like the gold idea too. My mother, who has been quilting for awhile always tries to tie the corners together when she has blocks that match is construction but necessarily in color.

I think the splash of gold would be beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do.

Well, I just pulled my scraps - more like 6"xWOF strips. There is more than I thought. Anyway, I have found three larger pieces that are cream with gold and silver metallics. So I guess that makes the decision on the centers. I will post when I start it.
