Hi all you great folks! I am making a couple of throws to go in the music store.
I made 9 patches and was thinking to make them D9P. I showed DH the 9P and he likes them. He said I can leave them like that but if I want I can do the extra work of the D9P. He doesn't object, but thinks they are fine as is, too. I am posting the pics of the 9P, and would love suggestions of whether to leave them as such, or go for the D9P. Thanks for your help in advance! other 8 of the 20 squares I have so far 12 of the 20 I have so far close up1 closeup 2 close up 3 |
I like the 9P. I'm not a fan of the D9P. JMHO!
edited to say...I love your blocks! |
I think that would look so cool as a D9P. :)

Why not do some of each? You could always throw a few D9P in to mix things up a bit. I like all of the 9P blocks and agree with you husband on this!

I like them

Hi WIldyard. I like the 9-patch alone because it shows so much more. But I have done the disappearing one too. So hummmmm....let's see. OK I like the 9=patch. I think it one will be able to see more of the musical theme. Either way, it will be wonderful. It will be great in your music store.♥♥

They look great!

I think it wiill make an awesome 9P. Im thinking your DH is on to something here.

Are you doing sashing if you leave it a 9P? I'm seeing black sashing with cornerstones set on point. No D9P for this one. How many more blocks do you need to make? Lately, I'm liking 9P mixed with snowballs, then you could skip the sashing.

Since D9P makes the block smaller you would need to account for the size difference. To me the music theme ones are on the corners so they would still be large as far as seeing the design.
|
I like them as they are...you can see the prints nicely.
|
I would still do the D9P. They look so go for not much extra work.

With your scrappy blocks (I love scrappy!) I think the 9P might be best. In my opinion, the D9P adds lots of interest to a quilt when the 9P blocks are all the same. You already have lots of interest in your quilt with your wonderful scrappy blocks.

I like the regular 9 patch with some sashing myself.
|
Just go with what will make you happy...I am a fan of both designs. Your blocks and colors will make this quilt gorgeous either way.

Thank you all and here is what I decided to do! I made more blocks and decided to make one of each! LOL. So now I have the D9P top done with the black sashing. Am thinking about adding another scrappy border to it.
And I have the blocks for the regular 9P. I don't have enough black to sash this one, so am thinking about what to use. Would scrappy sashing in solids take too much away from the 9P? In this I am meaning to have each sash one color, but mix the colors up? I could do a 3 strip sashing in red and brown, and make 9P cornerstones to go with it. Any other suggestions? I could decide myself, but I love hearing all of your interesting ideas on how to do things! musical whirlygig quilt musical square |
