I'm in the process of adding the last border to a queen size raffle quilt and I'm faced with the dilemma of "do I cut the borders length-wise or cross-wise?". I've got enough fabric for length-wise but that means so much waste to get opposite sides matching and even more waste to have all the sides identical (plus if all sides are identical a lot of the motif will not be represented). I think I could cut the strips cross-wise and match them without too much waste but I'm worried about having seams in the outside border. ANAL quilters (like myself) please reply. I want to get this done today. Thanks, Joyce

i like to cut my borders lengthwise due to less stretch. there is no waste... just scraps for future projects :-) :-)

It's beautiful fabric ... and I'm looking forward to seeing whole quilt!
Being that you've identified yourself as an anal quilter ... I think you KNOW the answer before you posted!!!! :) Which are you going to be the happiest with? Which are you going to be pleased as punch with, when people are oohing and aahing and buying raffle tickets? I wonder ... I wonder! :) |
