Need opinions: matching or contrasting thread?

Hi everyone, I'm torn about which thread to use for this border applique. It's kind of whimsical so I was thinking of using contrasting thread. Or should I use matching thread? Or use black thread for everything? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!!!
PS-The green chevron at the top is the cover on my ironing board, not part of the quilt. |
I kind of like the idea of black? (But I don't know what is typically used.)

being you have alot of black, you could use black. do you want to keep changing thread? Do you want it to stand out? Are you good at stitching it perfectly. if not go matching. I usually ask those questions. If you use black, what stitch will you use? after answering those questions, I hope you have an answer. Love it so far. show us when you're done.

I really like the idea of a contrasting thread but I think that black would be a little too stark. I would go with a dark pink, orange or a medium green.

I think a red would look smashing.
