Need pattern ideas please :)
I just found out my son is getting married in 6 months and I think I want to make them a quilt for a wedding gift. I am not a very advanced quilter. Any suggestions for a unique pattern that would be very special but still easy enough for me to do?

How about 9 patch, warm mornings, d9p, log cabin, anything that has large blocks and not too much piecing. Good Luck and happy quilting for nthe nnew couple.

The Wickedly Easy pattern is a great one for beginning quilters and is really attractive in many different colors.
http://www.byannie.com/media/images/...s_patterns.pdf I have made it for weddings with pillowcases in coordinating colors. |
The Irish Chain is an easy quilt and comes out beautifully and looks like your an expert! You can do what I did and use white and a variety of blue (choose your own color) or just use two colors. I had a bunch of blue scraps, so that's what I used. I made it for my dd's best friend when she got married. I used 1 1/2 inch strips, but you can use 2 inch, or 2 1/2 inch, and it will be just fine. I used the pattern in the book "Quilts, quilts, quilts, but I know there are bunches of patterns all over the web. Just choose one. Happy sewing, Gina

There was a really pretty one i saw on here within the last few days that was listed as something about testing a quilt pattern that was perfect for a wedding quilt. It had a link to the pattern later in the thread.

Eleanor burns lovers knot, its easy and quite lovely

Jelly rolls quilts are always pretty and simple!

I did a Jewel Box with a piano key border soon after I started quilting in brights on a black print. Every time the young couple posts a Facebook picture, one of them is wrapped in it. I made it large enough for two, of course.

I agree with the Wickedly Easy suggestion. That's the only pattern that I've ever used more than once.

I agree with the Irish Chain would be a beautiful quilt for a wedding gift. I love to watch Jenny on Missouri Star Quilt Co with her demonstration of this.

I'm leaning towards an Irish Chain in fall colors.....Jenny from Missouri Star makes everything look so easy. I could watch her all day:-).

Hi everyone, I have just joined today and I am glad I found this thread.
My daughter is getting married in August this year. I have made hanging hearts as wedding favours in different fabrics of her choosing. I have decided to make her a quilt using these same fabrics, it's a jelly roll quilt, however I have cut my own strips it's called 'Jitterbug' quite a lot of piecing but I know she will love it. I know the wedding ring quilt is lovely, but young people want something more modern (well my daughter does) - this is just my own opinion. |
Irish Chain. Always a favorite whether it's a single, double or triple.
|
A double Irish chain is a beautiful quilt - easy to make and looks like you are an expert when you're done. Post a picture when you're done!

Don't bother with finding a UNIQUE pattern. Instead find colors and prints that mean something special to your son and wife. A very very simple pattern becomes personal that way |
