Need Quilt Ideas
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone!
I am trying to come up with an idea to make a quilt with the pictured fabric. It is for a friend of my brother, I have never met the man but he has been such a friend to my brother and he just found out he has stage 4 esophagus cancer. I have this flannel and want to make him a cozy lap quilt but am at a loss for a pattern. Do you think these fabrics go ok together or should I just use 3 of them? Any ideas? I would like an easy one as I dont know how much time he has left. Thanks ahead of time for the ideas. God Bless! |

Warm Wishes is a free pattern. I would cut the focus square to be 8" and use the rest of the sizes as is. You could also use a BQ or BQ2 pattern using only three fabrics.

Thanks so much :) I thought Audrey B was wishing him warm wishes I did not realize it was the name of the quilt! I love the quilt ideas and am going to get started tonight on it. Thanks again so much! |
Well the name of the pattern is quite appropriate too, isn't it. :) If you don't have a site for the pattern, here is one.

Or you might like Square Within a Square 2.

I purchased the three fabrics on the right to make a rail fence quilt for my brother. I had purchased raiders fabric as well as that's his team.

This quilt was pretty easy to do and the directions are still on the board here. And I used the raiders fabric as backing. |

The BQ pattern would work great as you would have large squares for the logo fabric, the dark for the "lines" and the light background.

God Bless all of you! Your ideas have been wonderful. I can not thank you enough. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

Looks like others have given you some excellent ideas. I like your colour selection, and I am sure your gift will be appreciated. All the best.

I just recently made a lap quilt for a fanatic Broncos fan. I made a Carpenter's Star with the Bronco logo in the middle of the stars and used Bronco colors for the points and background. I used the Broncos fabric, similar to what you have for the Packers, as the border

The snowball nine patch quilt is nice for focus on a specific fabric.

My first thought was to use the fabric as a center panel and use the other fabrics as a border. That way you can make it an appropriate size and it won't take long to complete. Very nice of you to do this.

D9P goes quickly and would work.

How about just lengthwise Stripes of all the fabrics, this could be done cross wise for the back... Nice Thoughts..
|
I just quilted one like that with Oakland Raiders fabric down the center, a thin border of gray, then a wide black border. It turned out great. Now I have to do 3 more for other teams. It turned out great.

Maniacquilter2 has given you a fantastic design. The colors you have chosen are perfect. May God wrap His arms around you as you sew this quilt.

use all fabrics, go well together. good luck

My grand daughter made a Seahawks quilt log cabin style but did 6" centers and then 2 1/2" logs with just 2 rounds it looks great. I would attach a picture but couldn't find one right now. Also google 5 yard quilt easy pattern and looks great out of all kinds of fabric combinations.

thanks
