Need simple ideas on quilting borders.
I have a 1" then 2". The rest of the quilt is done in SITD and an extra line through the middle of the 6" squares. The outside border is a plaid with approx 3/8th inch squares. I want to do something fast that I can't screw up and I don't have to practice first. Yeah, I'm not too picky, right? 😄 Thanks for your help!

Can you post a photo? Without seeing your quilt all I can suggest is another wider border.

My post disappeared, and I couldn't post the picture because my phone said its out of memory. I'll do it in the morning. Butbwhat I need is ideas for the actual stitching of the quilting.

It depend# on how much work you want to do, simple would be the serpentine stitch down the center of each border. More work could be the continuous curve or orange peel design inside all the little squares.

My first thought also. I did some kitty blankets for my grandkids and did a continuous curve down the centers of the borders and it worked great.

I can only do simple quilting at the moment and my go-to border quilting is serpentine stitch with my walking foot. I find it is easier to draw a line down the middle of the border to ensure I am still going straight but other than that no prep required!

When I wanted something simple with a walking foot, I've done a wavy line crosshatch. It is easy, doesn't have to be perfect and I like the way it looks.

When I have a narrower border, I like a wavy line.

I have done borders with a product called Borders Made Easy. The product is a roll of 2 1/2" paper strip with a quilting design printed on it. It has temporary adhesive on the edges. You simply cut the paper to the length of the border, place it on the border, stitch on the continuous printed lines, and then tear off the paper. There are several different quilting designs. I have very little quilting experience and usually quilt exactly like you do. But the borders kind of stumped me until I tried this product. http://Www.quiltingmadeeasy.com

How about free-motioning a meandering curlicue? It's like the wavy line with loops thrown in. I love to do this on my narrower borders. It's always cute.
