I just looked at a sewing station and bookshelf that I spotted on craigslist. The gentleman is selling his late MIL's household items and house. There also happens to be a Qsnap quilting frame and a Pfaff 1151 sewing machine that fits in the sewing station. He has no idea how much the frame and machine are worth.

I'm buying the sewing station and shelves for $100, don't really need the machine or frame, but if I get a good deal, may just grab them. My question: what do you think would be a good price for all the items?

That is an extremely good deal on the bookcase and work station! My husband is building me a sewing center, along with the mechanism that raises the machine. We already have $500 in materials...so your deal is outstanding! We're using cherry wood, which gets costly, but that station looks very good for that price! I would think the other 2 items would be worth another $100.

That is odd what do you suppose it means?

Be careful Ladies/gents There is alot of crime on line and you really need to check it out. I think those prices
are to good to be true.

UH oh...something looks a little fishy here after I looked at the other pics on line.

Yes, my husband will be coming with me to pick everything up. I went and looked at the items today by myself, which I never do, but I was so excited to nab the workstation. Very foolish of me, luckily the man was legit.

I didn't try the machine out, because I really don't NEED another machine, so I will have to tell him any offer I make on the machine is subject to a test run.

I would buy it in a minute if I had the room.

The work station, brand new, would be well over $1500 and who knows about the bookshelf. I saw the ad about the quilt frame being on sale for $50, but usually they are around $100 ... if you can pick the machine up for $50 you would be getting a heck of a deal!
The thing about the quilting frame is: for handquilting, great (and tying a quilt, of course) but how many times would you really use it?
Am anxiously waiting to see what you did! <wave>

I picked up a Q-snap frame for 5 bucks not long ago and the bookcase can be picked up new at Wal-Mart for around 25 bucks.

I think the items you got are well worth lots more than $100.00 and the sewing machine has a large throat and looks in good condition, if it works. The bookcase looks like it would be worth lots more than $25.00. I wouldn't know what you should pay, would be important to me not to take advantage of anyone just to save a few bucks. I try always to follow the Golden Rule.

Looks like a jackpot hit to me.....

The Pfaff has the IDT foot on it. I love that feature. A built in walking foot. Just ask him what his bottom dollar is for the whole works. He may just want to make a quick sale and get rid of it. I would buy the whole set up in a minute!!!

I don't want to take advantage of him, he's contacted a Pfaff dealer and was told he could probably get $300 for it, so he was going to ask $250. I let him know that he probably will get that, so to go ahead.

But I did tell him, if he doesn't get any offers to keep me in mind. I'm thrilled just to be getting the work station. I may one day want a hand quilting frame, but it's really not on my radar.

Thanks for all your input.

When I get it set up with my machines, in my new "studio", I'll post pictures.

Good deal for you!
Maybe the Pfaff dealer will buy the machine from him for the $300.

Judie 11-30-2010 10:00 PM

Wow.. what a deal.. Yes buy them.. and the machine.. I've never seen a Pfaff that doesn't run like a top.. probably some have, but over all they are great machines!! I have a newer one and an older one.. both are great machines. You can sell it to someone else if you don't need it.. or give it to some young woman that is struggling to find a machine she can afford.

I was the one who ran into a deal simular to yours.. I bought a 1230 Bernina, 2 featherweights, an embroidery machine with lots of programs, a Bernina surger and a lot of notions and other things like scissors and just a bunch of stuff all sewing related... for $300.. The sewing machines and other stuff had belonged to this woman's MIL and she had passed away.. it was sitting in the house and she just wanted it out.. I told her it was worth a lot more if she would just advertize it.. but she was tired of it, didn't sew, didn't want to, didn't want to research the value.. just wanted it all gone, said it's next home was the dump as far as she was concerned. so I paid her with a my money and a great big smile and took it all home!! It happens now and then. I kept some, gave some, and have felt as happy as a clam over the whole thing. Once in a lifetime.

I've seen the Q-snap frames in the store recently for around $100 and can sometimes get them with a coupon for 40% off.
