Need some advice - Spicy Spiral Table Runner
I have the pattern for the Spicy Spiral Table Runner and made one a few years ago in a class. However, after reading the pattern this time, I am confused. I will be using strips that are WOF instead of fat quarters and the chart for cutting the wedges is confusing me (I think it would be confusing if I was using fat quarters). I did go to a tutorial that someone put the link in for, but I am still confused. Can someone give me some hints? PM me if you don't want divulge too much about the pattern.
Thanks much!! |
I did this pattern many years ago. I remember that you cut part of the wedges from the top down and part from the bottom up. So it ends up looking like a zig zag cut. There is very little waste in between the wedges.
This video should help you. [url]https://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=Ahejf2fl9B0b1vaK6ZjTBLObvZx4?fr=yfp-t-901-s&toggle=1&fp=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&p=spicy%20spiral%20table%20runner%20video[/url |
I am gonna have to try this.

I was also confused with the directions. So I watched a u tube video. I wouldn't have been able to do the pattern without it. The table runner is stunning and I'd like to make another.

I had to take a class to finally figure it out. I remember it took longer to cut the strips then to sew it together. I would sew the strata as wide as your ruler is tall and then move the ruler down with each cut following the pattern lists of strip sizes to cut. Don't move the strata, then start from the opposite side and repeat. That is about all I remember. I doubt I ever make another one.

When you use wof, sew the stratas and press both in the same direction. Then layer one strata on top of the other with the top one reversed.
Start on the right and cut the first triangle. Move the ruler down 3/4" and cut the next triangle. Continue across. When you get to the end of the fabric, turn the triangle around and continue cutting shorter and shorter across the top of the strata. Hope this helps!! Ann |
THANKS!!!!!! Ann the pictures are a great help, and your description jogged my brain enough that I can figure out what the directions mean. Thanks much!!!

I love this pattern, I have made several of them.

I am glad ann had pictures of the spicy spiral to help you out. I had to watch the video before making it myself a few months ago. I think the whole cutting and layout is complicated enough to confuse most people unless you are very organized.
