I am going to take everything out of my sewing room and paint it, but my son, daughter and sisters say it will take me 2 weeks to a month to get everything out. It is not a big room but I do have a lot of stuff. I would like to do it in less than a week. I haven't done much on this site except look at all of the beautiful quilts you all make and read all the encouragement the site has given others.

do you have to take everything out? can you just cover some of it in the center with plastic drop cloths? then as you are done with part of the room move what you want to that side and then paint the other side. ceilings can be painted with the long extensions and not have to move it all out. Only if you were redoing carpet or linoleum that you would have to move it all. I have painted my in laws house many times by doing it that way. We didn't have any place to go with what was in the room. Besides that is twice the work.

I think you will be able to get most of the painting done without moving everything out of the room... get the neighborhood teens in there to help muscle stuff around!
(just offer to fix them a really nice meal for their effort!)

You can take everything out and paint the room in a week, but can you get everything sorted and back in that time frame? I couldn't.

I usually empty a room except for the large, heavy furniture. If you have an area to put things, it really should not take more than a week. You could bribe your DS and DD with something so they would carry things for you. It would really go faster then.

We usually move out the small things and then move everything else into the middle and throw a drop cloth over it all. Takes no more than a day and a half to paint.

Get your sister, son & daughter to help and you will be done in no time. It doesn't take long to paint, just organizing it back into place is the hard part.

Remember the quicker you get started the quicker you get finished. Have fun!!

Good luck! While you're waiting for the paint to dry, you can organize what goes back into it! You can do it!

Just think how nice it will be when it's done!
