I am making a memory quilt for my MIL and I dont know how to make the letters that the pattern recommends. It doesnt give the directions for that. grrrr. I should have read closer before I started this thing.

How do you make your letters for you quilts, when you dont have any directions to follow?

Are they appliques? If they are, you can find a font you want in Microsoft Word. Then use Word Art to get the outline of the font and mirror image it using the "flip horizontal" function.

ohhh that is a great idea! Yes it is applique. I reread the instructions. The pattern is in the back of the book. What I did was trace the letters on Heat n Bond. I think that might work. Its going to be a wall hanging so, I guess that is ok, right?

Just remember when you trace the letters onto the back of your Heat and Bond to do them BACKWARDS!!!! Put them on like you're going to read them then flip them over and trace.

Pat Sloan has a free alphabet applique pattern on her website/blog. Patterns come with instructions.
