I'm trying to make a quilt for my grandmother...only I can't find a good pattern that I think she would like. She's very simple and likes simple designs and being young I have all the wild and crazy designs!! Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks!!!

Any quilt block can be made as calm or as wild as you would like it to be. It's all in the fabric choices.

Just using two colors make a quilt seem calm. I made our daughter a blue and white quilt last year that turned out lovely. I used Eleanore Burns "Tennessee Waltz" pattern. It was easy too, a bonus!

Also, check out http://www.quiltville.com/ She has many beautiful, fun patterns to make. Perhaps your grandmother would like a scrappy quilt. Always a good choice.

Bottom line, your grandmother will love what ever you make just because you cared enough to make it especially for her. Grandmothers are like that!

Have fun with your quilt making. It'll show in your work. Trust me!

I think Yvonne's onto something. The fabric and the colors is what will really make a quilt wild or calm or cozy looking.

But if you want to go for a simplier design take a look at your basic quilt blocks and see what you could possibly do with those. Amish quilts can also give some inspiration for simplicity. You could also make a sampler quilt. Maybe a scrappy quilt. The possibilities are endless.

Marcia Hohn'swebsite has hundreds of quilt block ideas and her directions are clear and simple to follow . I think you will find lots that interest you.
