I have just finished 12 applique flower blocks that I bought at Hancock's a year or so ago called "A Gathering of Flowers." They are 9 inch blocks of 12 different flowers. But, I want to make this quilt larger than this and don't want to try to add more applique flower blocks. The flowers are on a cream background with small pastel polka dots. Has anyone else done these BOM flowers? If so, what did you do? Or...give me suggestions as to how I can make other blocks to go with these flowers to enlarge the quilt? And what sort of fabric? Well, you get the idea of what I'm looking for.

You might try some 'solid' blocks that are the same colors of the flowers. Solid with some small polka dots perhaps. Posting some pics if you could would help.

You can add 2 inch sashing in between the blocks to add some width/length, then add several different kinds of borders, start with a narrow 1.5-2 inch solid color border, then add another about 3-4 inches, and the last can be 6 inches...in one of the borders, you can use tine 9-patch squares, or piano keys using colors from the flowers, etc. There several quilt books showing many different kinds of borders...

KP...I sure like your idea. I had thought about the sashing and all the extra borders, but I think the idea of the tiny nine patches for an outer border would just do the trick...especially to pull it together. This is such a great group of people!! Keep the ideas coming, though. (I can't send pictures, BTW.)

Even simple 4 patch blocks with florals that would flow with the appliqued blocks would be pretty to add in with your BOM's. I like the border idea though too!!! :D:D:D
