Need suggestions for Hawaii

I will be traveling to Hawaii and would love to see some of the beautiful quilts made there. My destinations will be Oahu and the Big Island. Any ideas?

Also how about a class where I don't need to bring my own supplies?

thanks!

When are you going? We're going next month.

We will be traveling in August for about a week on each island.

Thanks for taking the time to send this. I wish I had the time to visit all of the places listed, but I really only have a day at the most on each island. I really hoped I could get suggestions of favorite shops or museums.

I've never been, so I was surprised to see the list. Your question sparked my curiosity.

<<sigh>> I was just sure someone had favorite quilt places to go in Hawaii.

We are back from our wonderful vacation in Hawaii. I discovered a perfect quilt shop in Kailua Kona called Quilt Passions http://www.quiltpassions.net/. They had many sample quilts and lots of Hawaiian fabric. I had a wonderful time shopping there and the ladies were so helpful!

At the hotel I stayed in a couple years ago the Hawaiian quilts were displayed in the lobby and on the floors at the elevators.....gorgeous! They were protected behind glass and had a small printing of the pattern and meaning.

Hope you see lots and lots and have fun and be safe!

When I was in Hawaii a few years ago there were several Hawaiian quilts on exhibition at the Bishop Museum. They also had ladies there teaching traditional Hawaiian quilting. It was only a local bus ride from the main part of Waikiki.

Enjoy your holiday.
