HI
I like to add ribbon or cording to different areas of my quilts (do mainly table toppers and wall hangings); but I have a lot of difficulty where the 2 end pieces meet - fraying. I know I can use piping and insert one end into the other, but would really like to use those nicer trims - but find that my ends look messy. On most of my designs I can't just wrap the trim to the back (like when doing a bath towel). Any suggestions. Thanks Karen |
Good luck. Sorry I can't help on this.

I use a product called Fray Check. Liquid form that dries clear. Apply to cut ends, allow to dry and sew as usual. Will stand up to some washing so on wallhangings etc it should work just fine.

I learned that ribbon and some braided cording is made of fibers that will melt. Carefully light a candle, and "melt" the edge of ribbon or cording. If you do it carefully enough you don't even notice it. I use this technique on stain glass quilting. maybe you could try this.

I use the Fray Check BEFORE I cut, let dry, cut, then reapply to the cut edge. On some of the heavier braids, the moment you snip them, they unravel. That is why I do it twice.

Great suggestions :D:D:D
