Need suggestions for "woodsy" quilt!
Hi all,
My sister and brother in law told me they would love a quilt for Christmas that has bears, moose, pine trees, fish, etc on it. I bought a pattern but it is far too hard for me, as it has flying geese in all different directions, very confusing. I can use the animal and tree outlines in the pattern, I know how to use fusible web, and can even handle sewing around the appliques by machine, but I am still a beginner in most ways. Would any of you ladies, or gents, have a suggestion for a pattern I could find online? My sister also loves red, and wants some red in this, and I am not sure how to work red in with the greens and other colors of this quilt. Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks, Nancy |
How about just finding fabrics that have the wanted elements - and just do something easy with them - such as cutting large pieces of the focus fabrics and put sashing between them with a border or two?

That is a good idea!! And wouldn't take me months! Thanks,
Nancy |
I did a quillow for my dad that the center was a beach towel with a fox in the woods so I did a four patch square around the towel and then added a dark green sashing, a black sashing and then a beige binding that matched the backing fabric. Keep it simple and let the animals be the focal point.

get the animal fabric and then do an attic windows. I am just finishing up one with this pattern. I used Backyard Bandits fabric. It is turning out really cute and is fairly simple.
