Hi All,

I'm a relatively new quilter and I have been commissioned by a friend to put together a quilt from a pattern she saw and loved. I told her I would do it, but I'm a little intimidated after getting the pattern in the mail. I'm wondering if any of you have done this pattern and would be able to share any words of wisdom or tips that would help me!

I was thinking of making up some practice blocks with scraps I have to start with, just to get the hang of them.

Any hints would be helpful - I'll include a pic of the pattern.

I don't have any tips but it's just a snails trail block, not too hard, good idea tho always to make a sample from non important fabrics

just look up snailstrails in www.quilterscache.com
you just have to watch your colors. keep a photo nearby when making your first block. and after that, use the practice block as your "template" to watch placement of your fabrics. good luck. you have a lot of them to do.

that's not a super hard block, but I would suggest making a sample or two with non important fabric.

My suggestion is to color a chart on graph paper and use that as your placement.

It's a quilt kit that she bought and sent me - it's the Fandango collection by Kate Spain for Moda. The fabric is gorgeous, but I don't get to "be creative" with my color choices or anything this time :)

I looked at Quilter's Cache, but didn't find the Snail's Trail block... maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
