In Need of A Train Quilt for A Boy that is not too difficult!
I have a grandson, Colton, who is 3 months tomorrow. His room is decorated with trains. The problem is that the blanket I wanted to make with a train and baby taking a nap on it was too difficult for me. It seems I am not good with the stuff to make the applique adhere to the material. It was hard as a rock and not a gentle firmness to make the quilt nice and soft. Does anyone have a pattern or suggestion for me. I new at this quilting game. I would be grateful for anyone's suggestion or help!

Just saw this pattern of a train engine that is all basic piecing in Annie' catalog:

Or how about some train fabric, for instance:
https://www.fabric.com/buy/0356787/o...4-39165e4fc1c1 Please don't give up on applique! It sounds like someone sold you the wrong product. There are dozens of heat and bond type materials and it's easy to get the wrong one. |
Somewhere out there, is train track fabric. I have seen a quilt that has the tracks going around the quilt as sashing, perfect for running little trains over the quilt. So if you see it and wondered what to do with it, get it.

How about starting with a train panel. Then you can build around it with track sashing. That would be fast and easy!

My warped sense of humor made me happy that the boy you are making a quilt for is not difficult...many boys are!

I thought I had the pattern, but it may be named after a fabric line and not called train or something similar. |
Night Trains is a wonderful pattern. Here is a picture of the one I made my GN
