I have been asked to make some quilt tops and give sewing lessons to a lady.
1) How much should I charge for the tops? She has the fabric already. I will not be quilting it, just making the tops. 2) How much should I charge for sewing lessons? She inherited a bunch of fabric and a sewing machine and doesn't know how to sew. I have no idea at all. Thanks! |
Hard questions. I would quote $15/hour for the lessons, then have her make her own tops. You could have the first few lessons be about making the first quilt.

I would ask lots of questions before making any kind of commitment! Lessons are available at community centers, so I would want to know what her expectations are. What does she want to learn? What is her timeline? How proficient does she expect to be? Where and when does she want the lessons?
About the tops--what patterns? How complicated? What timeline? What size? Get the idea? Do not over commit, nor under charge! This can get out of hand real fast. |
Alot will depend on how much time you spend on the tops and the lessons...
|
Thanks!
