I also vote for varigated thread.

penski 02-03-2011 12:22 PM

i would try a varigrated or gold thread, i would stay away from clear

LivelyLady 02-03-2011 01:27 PM

I like the meander all over with the purple....looks great

Sandra in Minnesota 02-03-2011 01:43 PM

That looks just great. Actually, you can do what you want because the "quilt police' won't get you. That's what's nice about quilting.

oatw13 02-03-2011 01:45 PM

I would try the green color thread if you have it. Green actually blends ok on dark colors.

I do like the all over pattern.

caspoohbear 02-03-2011 03:04 PM

I like the variegated idea... the solid purple looks a little harsh on the white to me.

wraez 02-03-2011 03:26 PM

I think I would use a light green that wouldn't show up too starkly on the white, would kinda disappear on the green and would be noticeable on the blue. IMHO

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 03:52 PM

variegated that would be nice

bevster 02-03-2011 04:15 PM

I like the purple thread, the quilt "POPS".

Matilda 02-03-2011 04:39 PM

Stitch in the ditch would be neat quilting lines.

kacy 49 02-03-2011 04:41 PM

Love your colors. I too would use a pale gray. It will blend in good. Your daughter will love it whatever color you use to quilt.

Anna.425 02-03-2011 06:59 PM

Hmm, if you are going to meander I might be tempted to do the purple and green.

KarenBarnes 02-03-2011 07:00 PM

I did a split rail last year and did a decorative stitch around each block. It turned out wonderful!

I like your sample just as it is, nice work!

PERFECT!

biscuitqueen 02-03-2011 09:23 PM

I like the purple thread on the white and green, maybe use a gold thread in the purple.

kwiltkrazy 02-03-2011 11:21 PM

Verigated thread really adds to it I think, but doing an all over stipple is probably the best, or you can stipple in sections like all the white done in a varigated, and the blue done in another var, thread(say blues from light to dark), and purple strips done in a var, purple. that would be really cute, or you could do a wondering vine. There are a million ways to do it. Just remember to breath and relax and enjoy. Best of luck, have fun.

ljorange 02-04-2011 12:48 AM

Oh yes, gold!

I did not adjust tension, just whipped this up real quick so I could get it posted!

Maybe a variegated thread, or possibly a compatible shade of grey.

I'd go with variegated too

missgigglewings 02-04-2011 04:30 AM

OK...I made enough sample sandwiches for another quilt. I tried several of the suggestions on here and could not decide wich one my DD would like.Soooooo....I asked her to choose. She already knew I was working on a quilt, I just did not tell her the pattern or colors. She immediately chose the first sample I posted! Go figger!!! She loves the purple because..and I am quoating her: "It calms down the white!" Well ok then..problem solved..thank you all so much! Today it gets quilted since we are snowed in just like the rest of the country!!

pollyjvan9 02-04-2011 05:01 AM

I like to use variegated thread. Good luck.

patsyo56721 02-04-2011 06:10 AM

You could use a verigated thread

Agree. The purple makes it stand out very nicely. You did a great job!!

NannySandy 02-04-2011 09:08 AM

I think it looks good as is. I like the meandering all over with that color of thread.

Patchworkmarion 02-04-2011 01:27 PM

I'd go with the variegated thread

cheryl rearick 02-04-2011 03:04 PM

The neat thing about color is it makes the person happy who is receiving it. If your dughter likes purple then for sure she is going to like it the way you hav sewed already. If you were making it for someone you were unsure about them maybe, verigated or gray so it would not show as much... lol This is a call for the you :) No matter what you do your daughter will always love it because Mom made it in love. ((hugs)) :)

ruthrec 02-05-2011 06:22 AM

I used variegated thread and quilted in the ditch. Let the colors do their work. Maybe one line of decorative, viney thing down the middle. I'm a fan of stitch in the ditch on any kind of pattern like this. The colors are so gorgeous I want to show them off. If necessary, I'll machine tie along the center of a color.

Annz 02-07-2011 06:54 PM

I think the thread stands out too much. How about white or clear.
