When you make a quilt using batiks, do you use regular cottons to fill in where needed? I have accumulated many batik fqs and as yet I haven't the slightest idea what pattern I will use. When I do, and if I need a particular color for a part of the block, does is matter if I use regular fabric? I will be so appreciative of your thoughts on this. Marge

I mix them all of the time :D:D:D

they some times shrink different amounts

I wouldn't want to hand quilt batiks, but other than that, I can't see any harm in mixing them.

I've seen many quilts at the LQS that has mixed both batiks and cottons. When I did my fabric Flings, I used cotton for the sashing, binding and backings. I didn't see any difference.

mix and match, the more the merrier is my motto. also depends on how you are going to quilt it.

I am mixing them in an upcoming quilt. I did wash all the dark batiks, including the charm squares.

You mentioned the shrinkage. I laundered and pressed all of my batiks today. Good thing, as the color of the color catchers was disgusting. It also seemed that they were not as shiny as before. Thanks, girls for your quick response. Now if I can just decide what pattern to use I'll be all set. Marge
