Needed: Baby Pattern with "Woodland Theme"
This is what my friend wants for a baby quilt.
I don't want to do a bunch of applique. Any ideas for a baby quilt with a woodland theme that doesn't include appliqueing a bunch of baby animals on it? Thanks, Watson PS...or convince me that applique on baby quilts are safe and will wash ok. |
woodland theme
The first one that comes to my mind at the spur of the moment is bears paw. If done in miniature it could be called cub paws! Now I just thought of flying geese. done in scrappy could be called wild flying geese!
I will be following this. Good luck. |
1. If you fuse the applique first and then zig zag tight it will be OK. I always use Fray Check when I applique at start/end point.
2. Look at coloring books at dollar store or on line for pic of animals. Bunnies, dogs, deer, etc. (Is this a boy quilt?) In this thread I showed block pattern for Q5 quilt. Easy pattern and you wouldn't need lots of animals. 12" block for animals and finishes to 18"...just a thought. https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...e-t314003.html |

I just did a google search for forest animals and found suppliers that have cute fab. Not sure what your friend's budget is cuz shipping is always a chunk of change. Good luck our quilting friend. Keep us posted with what you find.

The Fancy Forest pattern, or anything else by Elizabeth Hartman, might work for you. I'm starting on a variation of this one with curved piecing that might be adapted to just be forest animals. http://www.danimiller.com/blog/1618/...uilt-tutorial/

I would look for a panel, and then you could do some pieced blocks around it.

Check out Lorna McMahon's patterns. I've made a few of hers and her patterns are super accurate. No applique, all pieced. Plus she's a Canadian designer. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SewFreshQuilts

I would use one of the woodland animals fabrics and a 3 yard 3 fabrics patternhttps://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif

I made a few quilts using the Elizabeth Hartman “Fancy Forest” pattern. The animals are all pieced.
