Needed a new design board

I have been using a large piece of felt-like-fabric that hangs from the ceiling - pinning the blocks on for the layout. It became very frustrating when the 'pieces' moved, the pins slipped, so on and so forth. Had enough. Went to Lowes and purchased two 4 x 8 pieces of 1 inch blue foam board. They stand very nicely against the wall. I put the felt-like-fabric over it, and now I can put the blocks on the board and just push the pins into them to hold them in place. Works wonderfully, and since it is such a large space, I can do different arrangements till one catches my eye. I am sure this idea is not new - but it certainly is great for me!

I use a piece of foam isulation & put a flannel-backed vinyl table cloth on it as my cover. Due to the wacko walls in my sewing room, my piece is 4' x 6'. Works great!

I did the same thing with foam board. I put batting over it. I attached mine to my wall with command strips if i need to change them it won't be hard. I'm a widow so i need to do a lot DIY's.

My husband made me a wonderful design wall. He used plywood, I covered it with flannel and he put a frame around it and attached it to the wall.

I wish I had a empty wall to hang one LOL.. one day soon I pray.. I think your flannel or felt has to lean for the pattern pieces to stick and not fall off, would be so nice to be able to put it up and study them as you make the blocks. It would make the layout much easier as I have to lay them out on the bed for now.

My DH made me a design wall out of PVC pipe. I have 2 that are 5.5' x 4' . I sit them side by side so am 8' wide. I had some flannel and some old curtain fabric so I made a covering pillow case style. We use a blow up bed in the spare bedroom/thread & fabric storage room. So when I want to use the wall and I'm not expecting company we just deflate the bed.

I used the insulation foam 4 x 8 covered in felt. My wall is long enough for two of them. I stapled it to the wall, easy to remove and tiny holes a dab of paint covers.
