Needing eight point star help - calculating corner squares and inset triangles

Does someone have the formula for calculating the the corner squares and inset triangles of an eight point star? I referring to the star made with diamonds not the one made with half square triangles. The blocks I have made previously had all of the dimensions given to me, but I would like to make something in a custom size.

Thanks in advance!

What I know as a LeMoyne Star - the diamonds are made with 135-45-135-35 degree angles and all four sides of the diamond are the same length -

The finished length of a side of the corner square is the same length as the finished length of one of the diamond sides.

The finised size of the setting triangle on the sides is the finishrd size of the setting square cut diagonally.

For me, I would draft the finished sizes of the pieces and then add seam allowances. (I still use graph paper, protractors, compaases, pencils, and ERASERS when I draft.)

I paste the paper patterns on to template plastic and then cut the plastic. One needs decent scissors or a fairly sharp blade to do this, but avoid using your good fabric scissors.and new blades.
