needing source of fabric
 

Hi, I need some rust blender fabric. I have looked locally, but to no avail. It's hard to really know true colors online, as monitors differ and most places want you to order a minimum of 2 yards. If it's the shade I want, fine but I can't afford ordering 2 yds at each place to find the shade I'd like. I guess what I'm asking, have you ordered a rust color blender and it be a rust, not a orange? If so, where? Thank you

Some of the on-line shops will send you fabric samples. I believe Fabric.Com is one that will do that. It will take a little longer to find your fabric though, but may be worth the time. On the other hand, I recently had to return fabric to them because the colors in person didn't work for me. They are very easy to work with. I did have to order a minimum of yards one of the fabrics. I was ok with that because the fabric was relatively inexpensive and it was flannel which I use a lot. I have also ordered from MSQC. They are very helpful also, so you might call them about samples or even advice on colors.

I checked to see if they had any rusts in their new Burlap line, which to those reading, has a wonderful feel. Very soft and great hand, but alas no rusts. Then I thought of the Andover fabric that I just ordered but have not received yet. I just looked, and though they have many colors, I don't think there is a real rust. I think I would call a large shop that ships like M* or Jordan Fabrics and ask to speak to a real person. If you get a real person and explain what you're looking for you are more likely to get what you want. Also if you tell them what you're trying to match they may have it in stock and can compare on the spot. BTW I have seen the Kaufman Fusions line in some brown shades that I would consider rust.

I agree with talking to a person at the shop about it, but the danger is that one person's idea of rust might not match yours.

Two ideas: BacksideFabrics.com lets you order up to 10 swatches at a time, free. With fabric.com I once needed to get 12 different shades of solid blue for a project. I called them and we went through their blues together, I ordered way more than 12 pieces of the amounts I needed, and when I got them, I chose the ones I wanted and returned the ones I didn't. They were fine with that, and I got free return shipping so it didn't cost me anything to shop through their blues except paying for the fabrics I wanted. That was a few years ago, so you'd have to ask if they still do that.

At Equilter they have a "match this color" option you can search with. Maybe you can find something from the same collection?

It is best of course if they still have the fabric you used on site, then you just click on the color you are trying to match. I brought up this sale fabric just so you didn't need to search through where the Match Color thing is. Just click on a bug and it will change the color search fabric!
