I may never clean my machine again LOL. Finished cleaning bobbin area and putting back together. Now the needle hits the metal bobbin case and it doesn't pick up the bobbin thread. Obviously, I goofed somehow when putting things back together.
Took bobbin casing apart and back together again;
Replaced bobbin;
Changed needle;
Checked alignment of needle (left, center, right), etc.

HELP!!! Thank God for backup machines. Machine is Janome 6260

When I had this with one of my vintage machines it was because the flat of the needle was in the wrong way. I had to double check the directions in the booklet because I was so convinced it was in right. Can some one else double check? I worked with my DH to finally find it. I thought I had put it in the right way but it was turned.

Sounds like you may have knocked the timing off.

I also would reposition the needle. It needs to have the flat side to the back, and be pushed well up the shaft before you tighten the screw on the side. Also, check that your bobbin case is in correctly. My Brother machine has marks on the bobbin case which have to match up with other marks when you replace the case after cleaning it. These are the only things I can think of. If you've tried all and still doesn't work, then sounds like the machine wil have to be looked at by a Janome mechanic.

All of the above, and could also be a bent needle.

Try a new needle. If you have a Janome, there are red arrows indicating how to realign the bobbin case. Make sure you inserted the bobbin itself unwinding correctly.

This can happen if you have not pushed the needle all the way up when you inserted it. If this doesn't correct the problem, I would double-check that the needle is correct for the machine. Some needles are too long.

Move your needle position.
