Nancy's Notions sells a needle sharpener pad. Has anyone tried it and does it work?

I have one. It does seem to work and I can get a little more mileage out of my needles. But I've since read somewhere that it shouldn't be used on the machine so I've started taking my needle out of the machine and poking it in repeatedly into it.

Someone posted a DIY needle sharpener tute about a month ago using ultra fine steel wool. Haven't made it yet but sounds promising.

Thanks for the link about not using the steel wool. Somehow missed that post. Really appreciate you sharing the information as I wouldn't want to take the risk of damaging my machine.

I have one of those pads. I think it helps you to get a few more miles out of our needles.
