Needle size for fmq
 

I have a new Juki G110 that skips stitches and sounds like a threshing machine! My dealer said to use an 18 or 19 size needle. I have never heard of using that size before on a DM. Do any of you have a Juki and does it skip? What size needle for fmq?

I use a 90/14 needle for FMQ on my Janome 6600P. I just did a meandering pattern yesterday on a twin size quilt and had no problems at all. I had bought gloves and a silicone mat and they worked great! Hardly no drag on the quilt and the gloves gave me good control. Much better than the rubber finger cots I was using.

the needle size depends on the size/weight type of thread being used. I use 18's often if using 40 wt thread. I use a 14 if using silk or invisible. it just depends on what size thread you are using. if your machine is sounding wrong something else is going on probably doesn't have anything to do with needle size- visit the Superior Threads web site to learn about needles, threads...do some trouble shooting to find out what is causing the machine problems.
