Needle type and size?
 

Hey everyone!
Sorry if this question had already been asked. If someone could please point me in that direction is would be great!

First off I'm wondering if the needles for my embroidery machine are the same and would work for my sewing machine? Are all machine needles universal like do all brands fit all machines? The ones I use for my EM are organ 75/11. So basically I'm wondering if I could just use the same needles in my sewing machine and if that's a good size for most things? Or do I need to keep different sizes on hand for different projects? I know there are some differences for different materials but from what I can tell 75/11 is a pretty popular size, right?

My embroidery machine is a Brother PE770
My sewing machine is a Brother, maybe LS2400

I always check the manual for the thread size.

Depends on what type of needle you are using, if its a topstitching yes you can use it for sewing, size depend on thread used, machine embroidery needles are similar to sharps, but you can use topstitching needles for embroidery as well and ballpoint for knits

You can also use the regular Schmetz (130 705H) needles in your machine. I use size 80/12 for most everything. There are Schmetz "embroidery" needles that some of the ladies prefer. If you're having trouble with breaking thread, you can use a mictotex or metalic needle, which have a smoother eye.

All of the above needles will also work in your regular sewing machine.

Avoid Singer needles, as they aren't always consistent.

75/11 is the size of the needle (thickness) not the numbers that tell you what machine it fits but most all domestic machines that are newer 1960 to present can use the same needle. Please keep in mind that many sergers use a different needle
