Needles for Juki TL 2000 Qi

Hey everyone!

I've got my machine back out and I need to buy needles, but there is an overwhelming amount of options. So I was hoping some of you might have good recommendations for the Juki TL 2000 Qi, which says it needs HLx5 or HAx1

These two needles aren't sold at Walmart and I don't have anywhere else to buy supplies unless online. Any help is appreciated!

According to my research, the HLx5 are either Organ or Schmetz brand needles made for high speed or heavy duty sewing. For the HAx1 I found
https://www.thethreadexchange.com/mi...es_information

For example, Organ's HAx1 needle is the same as other manufacturers 15x1 and 130/705H needles.
emphasis mine.

Schmetz 130/705H are the same thing. You can get those just about any place. As I understand, the top of Singer needles is a bit smaller, so don't get the Singer HAx1 needles. Sometimes they fall out.

The manual for my Juki 2200 QVP Mini says to use those needles. The store told me I didn't need to. I use most Schmetz with mine mostly because I have a lot of them on hand. They work fine.

Schmetz makes many different needle styles/sizes. I have 3 different style families on hand - one for domestics (3 sizes - 11/70, 12/80, and 14/90), one for sergers, and one for my longarm (2 sizes, 16 and 18). They are not interchangeable, but all are Schmetz-branded.

Just to clarify for the OP, are you saying you are using 130/705H style Schmetz needles in a Juki TL-series machine?

Yes, 130/705H is the configuration (measurement specification) from the top of the needle to the top of the eye. It has a "flat" at the top of the shank. Most longarms use an industrial needle with a completely round shank, with a different configuration. The needle package will say, "130/705H" right on it. It is different than the thickness of the needle 11/75, 12/80, 14/90, etc. Most domestic machines will take the 130/705H Schmetz needle. At the shop, that's all we used on all the domestic machines we serviced. The Juki 2200QVP is a semi-industrial machine, but it still takes the domestic machine needles.

I use the regular (i.e. 130/705H) Schmetz size 90/14 or 80/12. The same needles I used in all my machines. Its a 2200 QVP Mini as stated in the portion of my post that you quoted above.

I buy mine at SewVacDirect
I use the 90/14 size for all my quilting Schmetz HLx5 Quilter's Needles - High Speed
They do have other Schmetz HLx5 sizes as well. Schmetz

I was just looking for an oddball Schmetz needle. Amazon had the one I wanted, but it will take a while to get it. Schmetz also sells direct online. Shipping is $15.00 for orders under $35.00.

The HLx5 won't work on a Juki 2200. It will be a different length from the top of the needle to the top of the eye, and will throw off the timing.
