Nervous about using flannel..... Help!
For the first time I'm using flannel for my backing and plan to make diamonds for quilting, only straight lines for me for now. :( What stitch length do you recommend? Should I do something else for the tension. I've tried some scraps and I can see a hint of bobbin thread on the top which is why I'm asking. TIA

I normally quilt at a 3 setting on my Bernina for quilting. I have been quilting over 25 years and I still like the look of straight lines especially the look of crosshatching.

Just loosen your top tension a smidge and go for it!

I was nervous, too, the first time I used flannel (last summer). But I ended up LOVING it. Just note that it sheds lint, so clean your machine out before, during, and after using flannel.

Be sure to use your walking foot. I like the serpentine stitch since it doesn't show so much if I'm not perfectly straight

Awesome! Tks so much for the tips. The only fabric I could find for the Houston Rockets was a thick flannel, so I had to try it for my grandson.

I just finished a quilt that I made from flannel sheets. I love how it ended up. I didn't have any problems. I did FMQ and it quilted up just fine.
