I gave the damaged one to a friend. I'm very happy with the larger one but you still have to be careful with them as I sliced right thru the side of my index finger late one night. Rule #1, don't cut when you're tired which I was doing so I paid the price for it. THought I'd never quit bleeding but finally I did. I don't have one of those cutter machines with dies, etc as I have no where to store it plus to me you waste a lot of fabric but that's just my thinking, what do I know? Anyway, I love my slotted ruler and use when ever I can to save me time and energy.

Years ago, I heard someone say "Never cut fabric after 9 pm". I tend to go with that except that the hour has gotten earlier as I've gotten older lol

Bandage tape on the back helps the slippery. 3M Transpore. It's transluccent and blocks reading the marks on the ruler, so it's important where it's located.

to me you waste a lot of fabric

After many years of die cutting with fabric, the lot of fabric waste is from those that do not know how to properly use it. At many craft and quilt shows I see vendors demonstrating the Accuquilt and cringe because they do not spend time layering the fabric correctly to have minimum waste. They are doing it the fast and easy way because of time and repetition. I have 1/4" waste or less from each geometric die shape. The applique shapes are trickier.

How timely! I used another person's June Taylor slotted ruler at Singer Sewing Day when she spied me cutting 1 1/4" squares for a new pixel quilt. Game Changer! I came home and instructed Amazon to bring me one! I would like a larger one, so now that I know they are easy and time-saving, I will seek one! BTW, I did find it slippery, so I stabilized my 2 # weight.

If you find the ruler slippery, try the Odif non skid spray - it works wonders on the reverse side of rulers without blocking the lines/numbers....

Thanks! Just ordered some Grippy spray. And the Martelli rotary cutter was on sale, so......why not try another cutter.

I had good luck with the June Tailor one. I got a stripology and it is harder to use in my opinion. I have a very solid cutting surface and use a new blade and still seems cumbersome to get the cuts. But, that is just another opinion.

Grippy spray is a must have for me. Now all my rulers and templates are no slip.

I absolutely agree with you. Prepping the fabric for die cutting is essential to preventing fabric waste. Pressing the fabric to get wrinkles out helps, too.

Is funny how these threads come up... I know I have a super large square, probably 16? 18"? but I can't seem to find it. My 12.5" square is with the quilting things. Some of my "too big" ruler things and the acrylic inserts for my sewing table we slipped into one of my boxes of framed art when we moved and we still have not hung any art. The ruler I was looking for was not in there -- but there was a never used stripology ruler!

I need a 13.5 trimmed block for my current project and it looks like the stripology will get me there now :)

I have the June Taylor one. I only wish it was a bit taller so l wouldn't have to fold my fabric so thick!
