HELP,dar |
Take a deep breath, you will do find. Did you buy from the store/dealer. If so then see if they give free lesson. I do not have a pfaff but I do have a Bernina and I am still learning how to use it. So I kinow how you feel. :XD:

I think any new machine is intimidating until you start using it. And yes, the books are kind of hard to understand sometime. You'll do fine!! Congrats on the new Pfaff, you will love it.

Congrats! I 2nd Featherweight Beth, it will get easier with a little time. If all else fails, you could pay for a lesson or two at a dealer. But just start, manual at your side. It's not gonna launch into space, although they sometimes look like they could! I have an old Bernina that I'm learning from the manual (easy-mechanical), and an older Pfaff that's supposed to arrive today. I'm in it with you, my friend.

I have this machine and I am sure you DON'T want to know how I feel about it. I probably can't answer all of your questions but maybe some of the basics.

Congrats!!!!!!!

I have a Pfaff Quilt Expressions 2044 & I love it. PM me if you have any questions. I am not sure how similar they are, but maybe I can help!

I have just gotten an Exp 3.0 and love it. All except for the presser foot lever at the back, but then I have that gripe about every sewing machine.
I can't get needle threader to work, but can easily do it by hand. I've figured out most of the machine. Yahoo.com has a web site for Pfaff owners. Sorry, can't remember name but maybe they can help. All else fails I'll happily trade you my 3.0 for your 4.0. Just to save you frustration you understand! Good Luck! |
thank you all for your fast response!i don't know if i've ever felt so dumb in my life[except when i got the pc!]i bought a brother innovis450 in sept.and the book is at least twice as thick,& MUCH clearer.know anyone who wants a brand new machine or $450.00?paid$550.00 for it .used maybe ten hours.
the pfaff is my dream machine, but if i don't learn to use it,it'll turn into my nightmare! thanx again for your encouragment, dar |

Don't be afraid of it. Use it. Pfaff is a great machine and you really can't hurt them by pushing a button or doing something with them. They are designed to be a work horse and that they are. I was intimidated my my Pfaff 2144 when I first got it too but I told myself that I had paid for this machine and I was going to learn to use it. My dealer has been great at answering questions and showing me things on it. I just love the machine and I am no longer intimidated. You will be fine. Just use it.

If you purchased it from a dealer I hope they offered you lessons. At my dealer you can take your lessons as many times as you want. I took lessons for my 2144 twice and for my Creative Vision twice. They are always helpful with everything.

i hink one of the biggest problems is the size of the buttons!i have new glasses & still can't read them.maybe one of those magnifying glasses that hang around your neck,at least untili've memorized most of them.took me 20 min.to figure out how to raise/lower the presser foot[it's a button on the front of the machine!] so sorry thuis has dragged on,thanx for reading & your help.promise tokeep at it luv ,dar |
I got the QE 4.0 for Christmas, and love it!! It is my first Pfaff after 3 Vikings (and a treadle Singer which still works). The book can be a bit confusing, but keep at it; you'll be glad you did. One thing that did help me a lot was making a stitch "sampler" of all the stitches, in various sizes. I am still learning about the programming, combining stitches, etc. and am no expert, but I'd be happy to share what I do know. Feel free to PM me.

Don't get discouraged, you will learn with using it. Get going, you won't hurt it. And yes, to the making a notebook with all your stitches. I did this with my Pfaff 2144 and always refered to it when using the decorative stitches. The ones one the lid are hard for me to see too.
