2 Attachment(s)
I wanted to add a new smaller addition to my sewing room. Found her in local classifieds sponsored by a local tv station. She came from Ammon Idaho (via shipping). She is a "Century of Sewing 1951" 221-1 Featherweight. Came with original case, 2 attachments, Original Handbook 25 bobbins and additional 9 other bobbins that I don't think belong to the featherweight. I plugged her in and had to do some stitches, they are 'perfect'. Will oil her up and start using. Cost $275.

The original owner had put a piece of white tape to mark a
perfect 1/4" seam and was a great quilter (per granddaugher who I bought it from).

Anyone know what the black attachment is for? Handbook doesn't show this. Anyone know of websites for help, etc on this machine.

I'm not sure which machine is prettier! The Singer is gorgeous, looks very well kept! But I have a soft spot for those Bernina Aurora's, I think they are just beautiful!

Envious!!!

The black foot is a more modern item. It looks to be a quarter inch foot. I have one that is clear but other than that they look alike. It is marked 1/4" in front and behind the needle. One of the nice things about a featherweight is any low shank foot will work. Don't fall for paying more for a "featherweight" attachment, if it's a low shank it will work.

Woo Hooo!!! Congratulations on your Featherweight! I recommend Dave Mcallum's website...Featherweight RX:

http://www.featherweight221.com/fwrx/index.html

I also recommend his book, "The Featherweight 221 and I". It is $35 but worth every penny, IMO. The info in it is simple and easy to understand, the drawings are large and clear and most of the info works for the singer model 301, also. You will love the sound of your FW--they just make the cutest humming noise as they stitch.
