I would always stick with the latest and greatest in software. I find that 6 and 7 are equally easy to use, and the activation/deactivation policy is better for EQ7. Plus when 8 comes out (and it will) you will get a better deal updating from 7 to 8 than from 6 to 8.

I've always upgraded my EQ programs and am using EQ7 now and really like it-you can use it a little or a lot and I feel it is still worth it. I think I've seen posts that Eleanor Burns site has about the best price-don't know if that is still true but give it a try.

I have EQ6. I purchased it used and the seller filled out a form with EQ to transfer the license to me. I purchased it with 3 activations. I thought I read that there were initially 4 and assumed that the first owner used up 1. I contacted EQ and, after loading it to my PC, they told me that I have 2 left.

For me, price was the decider. I was able to get it for 1/3rd the price of EQ7 and if I want to upgrade, will still be ahead of the game dollar-wise.

You might want to try to find it used and then make your decision on which version to got with. I was lucky that the original owner knew to transfer the license as I would have had no clue about that and my purchase could have been worthless.

Anna, I should add that I find the program relatively easy to use but would recommend going through all of the lessons in the book to get exposure to all that it can do.

I use EQ7 all the time. It helps me when I am enlarging a pattern that I bought. I don't think it is that hard to use; I did go through all of their tutorials.

I have EQ7 and love it. I would buy the newest version as it will be supported longer and probably updated more. Enjoy!! It is like anything else just use it and it will become easier. The book that comes with it is great & explains everything. I had a question and emailed them and got an answer the next day.

When you talk about tutorials, are you talking about the videos in the software itself, or something else?

At the time I bought EQ5, EQ6 was on the market, but I didn't want to spend that much money on a program that I might not use much. As it turns out, EQ5 was a waste of my money also, because I never use it and have no interest in it as yet.

Now you all have me curious as to what is meant by these EQ programs being supported, such as newer being supported longer. Can anyone explain what this means, please? Are there some sort of limitations on the time in which one can use the EQ programs?

I would go with EQ7, I love it!!!
