I was making pillowcases and ran into the problem with the width of the fabric. I purchased the fabric at Hancock's and there was just a short length left on the bolt, but enough for what I wanted. However, after I washed the fabric and started cutting out the pillowcases, I couldn't believe the width! I managed to make them, but it was a tight squeeze. I, too, will have to make sure what the width of the fabric is.
