Went to Walmart tonight and was so excited to see the new fall pattern. It is adorable. I picked up the fabrics and as the young woman was cutting them I noticed that the wide border one, a pretty orangey fall leaf pattern, had @OAG, Inc. stamped in tiny letters throughout the pattern! My husband said I should contact them and let them know I'll be charging $1 a month for displaying their advertising! I might machine embroider a tiny leaf over it.

That is odd.

some one else posted a pic the other day of a panel and the manufacturer put their name right inside the design area.

They will learn not to do that when we don't buy there fabric.

Wow, I've never seen that before! Not nice. Not nice at all.

I wouldn't buy it either. Sounds like a letter writing campaign in the making?
|
I agree

I think I might just bring it back.

Now I don't mind wearing advertising for companies (i.e. my Dr Pepper T-shirt) but the logo was quite obvious when I got it. To sneak advertising into a fabric like that is just plain tacky! We need to call these companies and complain.

It's a pretty common thing for licensed fabrics to have the licensor's name somewhere in the design. Usually it's included in a subtle, unobtrusive manner.
It's always there in Charlie Brown/Snoopy fabrics for instance. If you look at this picture, beneath Snoopy's head, you will see a few tiny letters (hard to read but I think it's UFS). And please notice it's *licensed* fabrics as opposed to *designer* fabrics. I think designers of quilt fabrics realize we don't want "extra stuff" included in the fabric, and they seem to be content with having their name printed along the selvedges. This is a licensing issue, I think, where the licensor is concerned about people making / selling items and basically profiting off of their good name or characters they have developed. (That is a whole other topic, though!) |

Thank you for pointing this out. I will look more carefully in the future before having any thing cut.
I do not purchase shirts etc, that advertise for any particular company since I don't get paid to do so. |
