Good luck with your first quilt. Hope it is simple. You might want to check out your LQS and see if any classes will help you. There is so much to learn. Welcome to the board.

Welcome from NE Ohio.

Welcome from Louisiana, temporarily in Texas, headed to the International Quilt Festival in Houston Wednesday night!

I hope you know how to sew, because to create your own pattern to make your first quilt could be challenging. Some people thrive on challenges. There are many Youtube videos out there to teach you just about anything about quilting. We are all here because we love this hobby and are addicted to fabric.

Happy quilting,
Barb

Welcome, Joyellie. You're lucky to live in Atlanta where there are two big sewing and quilting shows a year. I think you will really enjoy this group of quilters who are so helpful and encouraging. Good luck on your new venture into quilting.

There's no pattern for the quilt you want to make. I'd suggest something a little easier for your first quilt. Try making a few square in a square blocks, maybe 8-12 blocks. Then see if you want to try making a block four times the size of your square in a square. Remember that each square has a 1/4" seam allowance all around, so the block ends up 1/2" smaller than the block before it's sewn into the quilt.
