After having 2 Rowentas (both high-end) which leaked; a Shark which lasted longer, but leaked eventually; I purchased a Black and Decker at Bed Bath and Beyond with coupon and so far am liking it the best of all.

Thanks everyone. You gave me my answer. To the Dollar store I go.

Thanks for the input. I do have a Rowenta for about 8 years and it is starting to spit. I noticed at JAF that the new lightweight are all made in China now a days.

Irons are like quilt machines - there are people who love and swear by a specific brand. It all depends on how much you want to spend. I have a Black and Decker and it is serving me quite nicely. I have read that the Classic model (looks a bit old timey) is a really good one. I didn't get it because I thought it was really ugly but a woman in my guild has one and absolutely loves hers.

There were different brands of the $9 iron at different stores. One was Rival and one was Continental. I bought two each and they worked the same. I kept one for myself. General Dollar stores are popping up here everywhere. I have one on each end of my road. LOL

I have a Rival.. cheap , light weight and produces lots of steam. I too paid under $10 for mine at Walmart.
