:shock: I have no floor space to lay out my backing/batting/top on that is big enough to accomodate without moving furniture. I do have a king size bed however. Can I lay the backing out on it and just use pins to hold it in place while I place the other layers? Obviously tape prob. wont work and I dont know what else to do. The quilt itself is only a lap quilt at about 64 x 64 but dont have that much open space to accomodate. What do all of you do?

Yes, you can use your bed, but I'd go get one of those cardboard cutting mats from WalMart otherwise I'd be pinning the spread, plus it'll give you something to tape the backing to so it will stay flat. Pin the overflow to the bedspread and release it after you get most of the pinning done.

You can also use your house walls or make a clothes line outside.

I go to the local Library and find a room to push all the tables together......

How do you keep it on the walls? Someone said they use painters tape?

I purchased 3 of the white banquet tables and set them up in my family room when I need to lay out the quilt and pin together.

I've used my bed to sandwich quilts that size. I strip it down to the mattress to give a firmer surface and use straight pins stabbed in at an angle to stretch the backing. It's really quite easy to avoid pinning the sandwich to the mattress.
