I just picked up a featherweight today. Need HELP!!!!! I did not get a book with it. The only number I can find is AH657817 It seems to be in really good shape. The guy I bought it off of new nothing about it. How does the needle go in? The thread grove facing me or out on the left side. I can't get it to pull up the bobbin thread. She seems in really good shape other then that. Where can I get a book? That would help alot. I can't wait to get it running.

Congratulations on your new featherweight!! Do you have a picture of her?

Your FW was made in 1948. I’m not sure what date though. You might like this website about Singers http://singerfeatherweight221.blogsp...herweight.html You can also call Singer 1-800-4-SINGER to find out how old your Singer is, just give them the serial #.

The flat part of the needle faces left and you thread right to left. I think the needle goes in differently for FW’s made in other countires. I can’t remember where you can get manuals but there IS a place to get them (mine came with one.) As soon as I find out I’ll let you know. Someone else may be able to help you. You can also call

Here is a link to “Vintage Sewing Machine Shop … Come on in and sit a spell” http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-43881-1.htm for vintage sewing machine owners. Billy (Lostn51) knows a lot about vintage sewing machines.

Thanks so much for your Help. It was much appreciated. With your help we got it running. It purrs like a kitten. My DH found this on craigs list and we went today to pick it up. I am so proud of him, he is so sweet. I will try to get a book later when I can get a model #. It just has a serial #. It looks like new as you can see it hasn't bin used hard. I think I will call her muffin.
