It's beautiful. Lucky you to give the old quilt a new home. I think someone on the board shared your block with me. I didn't realize at the time that it was your design. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Thats great to hear. You did a wonderful job on making the piece block. How are the quilts coming out that you are making for the service people ? Cant wait to see them.

I had always been wondering about the pattern I kept seeing on the board about this candlequilter star. Now I know. Its really a pretty star and you are really lucky to have had the chance to get the original quilt where you got your inspriation.

Sherryl,

I remember the post that started all of this and am so glad you have the original What a blessing. Now I can see also what one Candlequilter Star quilt can look like in one quilt with matching color. I'm still anxious to follow your "Star" to see what you can create from all the ones you get. Thank you for sharing!
Susan

I printed a copy of your story out and am going to put it with my paper piece pattern so I can have a story to go with my pattern.

This is beautiful. I have been following since the start. Not an experienced enough quilter to have requested a pattern to make a sample square, but would like to buy the pattern when you have it available. Congratulations on your success.

People started looking for a name for the block and many found similar looking blocks but not anything just like it. So I re-created a paper piece pattern for it and called it the Candlequilter Star block. Well, the original owner decided to sell it on ebay and I am now the proud owner of this beautiful quilt that lead me to designing my first pattern and hopefully many different quilt patterns from it. Don't worry I am not going to take this quilt apart to see how it was made. I will treasure it! I feel that the person who made this quilt did it using the english paper piecing technique similar to the grandmother's flower garden.

Anyway, I am so happy and I thought those of you who have seen or followed this quilt story would like to know the happy ending.

Thanks,
Sherryl

What a wonderful masterpiece you acquired. I hope someday I can learn to quilt as good as that is. I just finished a quilt today, it is a strip quilt and using the longest stitch I could, sewing a straight line diagonally down the quilt, it puckered. So I had to take out and sew by hand the puchkered area. Now I can choose some of my stash and get your block started.
