Hi everyone. I have a new quilt that I just finished after about 2 months (off and on) work. I have helping my wife (Judy) with a couple of her quilts since my first quilt (sudoku) last spring. This one is an origional design. I got the inspiration from a book clip art of Chinese Folk Designs from Dover Publications. the quilt is titled Chinese Junk. The quilt is
66 x 80 inches with 792, 2 inch squares. The quilting is the folk art, birds, butterflys and bats in the sky (of course), dragons in the sail and the hull of the junk, and fish is the water (again of course). The border is quilted with 5 different chinese junks. Unfortunately, the quilting is not seen very well in the attached pictures. The quilted figures were pulled from a CD of the clip art into Brother's PE Design (version 7) then digitized into embrodery format. See ya.

Great job Will! Did you digitize those designs yourself? You did a great job on the quilt design

Will 11-03-2008 06:33 AM

Yes, I digitized the figures myself. That's what got me interested in quilting in the first place. My wife is the sewer and had taken some quilting classes. I copied the figures from Dover Publications Chinese Folk clip art and modified them as needed. I also had to pull the origional clip art into Corel print shop pro to delete or add parts to the figures to get what I wanted. I embroidered the figures using my wifes Brother 4500 machine. See ya.

Will 11-03-2008 06:35 AM

The figures are all machine quilted. I wouldn't do it if I couldn't use a machine. Sewing on the binding is all the hand work I want to do.
