What else better to do during spring break than learn to sew by making your first quilt? She picked out her own fabrics the other day and picked the pattern from a quilt posted on the board yesterday. I cut the squares and showed her how to sew the first few together and she is doing it on her own now at a nice slow speed. Thanks goodness for blue tape and marking seam allowances on the machine. I admit, I'm kind of proud. :)

Be sure and post her first project. Love it when the wee ones want to learn our hobbies.

And you *should* be proud! How old is she?

That looks exactly like my sewing table LOL .

What a sweet picture! My DD also quilts when she has time. It's a wonderful thing when they follow in creating!

Such a sweet picture!!! I hope my DGD will learn to love to sew. She is interested but can't sit still for more thanfa few minutes. My DD's never wanted learn. They love to ask Momma to do it for them instead. LOL!

I impatiently wait for that day with my little one, she is 3 1/2 and wants to learn now, but she is not very cautious so at this point it looks like she might have to be a good age to start

She is 9. I started 4-H sewing at 9, so it is time for her to learn. She is doing a good job. I made her take out one seam that was just too wide, but other than that, I'm just letting her go. I'll get more picky when she is ready for me to teach her good construction, but I want her to enjoy the hobby first. She has almost made all 10 blocks!! I'll post pics when she finishes the top. I'm proud of my daughter. :o

what a special time to spend together... she will remember this her whole life.

Awesome! I remember being her age and begging my grandma to teach me and she said I was too impatient. The request was repeated for YEARS until I finally taught myself! Now I look forward to teaching my daughter, should she want to learn. Hope you guys have fun together!
