New to Quilting Board

2 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I'm new to this board but I've been quilting for over 30 years.

I'm so eager to see what everyone else is making and to share what I'm doing and to learn new techniques.

Here's a couple of pictures of a project I just started -- it's a 1000 pyramid quilt.

Thank you!

Susan

Welcome from not so sunny Southern California. I think your expectations will not only be met, but surpassed. It's a wonderful way to have quilting talk, especially during Covid.

Welcome from Alaska! Your pyramids are lovely. I also couldn’t help noticing the fabric underneath them because I have some. ☺️

Welcome from Idaho!! Seriously, your quilt is amazing. Bright and white...right up my alley. And it is quite evident that you have 30 years under your belt. Beautiful piecing..

Susan, welcome from Virginia! Your quilt is beautiful, and a pattern I have aspired to make for years. Perhaps you will inspire me to get busy on it!

Hello Susan and welcome from Oro Valley, Arizona.

Welcome to the board! You’ve got a great start on your quilt. I like how you’ve grouped your colors but not absolutely strictly so there is some space for fun in there too. I also noticed your bed quilt fabric. I just bought that same one from KQ to use for the back on a quilt for my nephew.

I actually started it years ago, cutting the triangles, but it took so long that I got fed up and put it away. It started as a charm quilt, with every fabric different. Now I decided to make the white all the same and the colored triangles all different fabrics. I don’t think I would ever have gotten this done if it were not for the pandemic!

So many of these are very old fabrics. It is all from my stash so I am sure many other people have them in their stash also!

I am learning as I go in terms of how to design a pyramid quilt which will have multiple pyramids. It is actually super fun. As to the bed quilt - my sister made it for my daughter!

Welcome to the Boards from Southern Missouri! Love that quilt!

You're going to love it here, if there's anything you're stuck on, post it here and I'll guarantee you'll have a plethora of advice and ideas posted back in no time. I've been here a little over a year, it's always one of the first websites I check in the mornings when I wake up and I've gotten a lot of great advice and tips on quilting. My favorite posts, though, are the Virtual Quilt Weekends - about once a month, a long weekend of a bunch of quilters posting what they want to get done, lots of pictures, a great place to stay motivated. It's like we're in this huge sewing room and we're chatting, quilting and having fun together. Our next official one is next weekend, but we're trying to get another one together this weekend because of the Super Bowl.

I've come to feel that this forum is my quilting guild. I am so, so happy here and I've learned a lot. So put the fuzzy slippers on, grab some coffee and have fun!
