New to quilting, do's and don'ts!!
Hi all, I've recently discovered a love for quilting after buying a very small sewing machine a few months ago. As I am so new to this, I am unsure of the do's and don'ts when it comes to posting little things I have made. I like to look at tutorials online and re-create. Is it ok to post items I have made using these tutorials? I have used a couple of free patterns but haven't posted those projects yet. I've also bought a quilt pattern which I will be posting in the future. I will stress that this is a hobby not a business and i would hate to upset anyone. Thank you in advance.
Happy Quilter 😁☘ |
Yes you can post anything that you have made.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada.

Welcome from Tennessee. You can post anything you made. Whether from a kit, pattern or your own design. As long as you made it we want to see it.

Welcome to the board from NE Ohio. Looking forward to seeing some of your works.

Thank you ladies, my mind is at ease now. 😁

Happy Quilter! I’m so glad you enjoy quilting! It’s a wonderful work that will keep your mind sharp and I find it improves my outlook in life. I’m anxious to see your projects! Welcome to the group!

You made it - you can post it. If its from a free pattern or tutorial, the honorable thing would be to also post a link to your source material.

We love seeing projects by our members. Post away!! :)
Welcome to the board. |
Joining in on the welcome and that we love pictures here! As long as it is your own work/photo you can post it even if someone else designed it. It's nice when you attribute it if there is a source. The help section has some great threads on posting pictures, our boards just changed formats and I think most issues have been discovered.
The moderators here are good at copyright issues and there are a couple of people here (not just me) who just find the whole subject fascinating. Although I worked most of my career primarily with engineers, I started out in advertising and had a lot of stuff to learn about trademarks and such. We have some threads on the subject and it is always interesting to hear both sides, because there are always at least two sides to every argument. |
Welcome from Texas! I'm new to this board also. My advice is to not use all caps. It is considered shouting, and message will get deleted. I appreciate the diligent monitors. Every post is positive.
Looking forward to seeing your projects. Recreating is the best flattery. |
Welcome to the QB. It is a great place for inspiration and motivation...so many helpful and creative members.

Welcome to the QB! You are very welcome here on the board. Jump right in any questions are welcome. We have all been where you are and it is the best place to be. No matter the skill level your input is valuable and your questions are usually answerable. There are quilters of all levels here. I for one am a hobbyist. This is the best hobby as I am producing something very useful for my family and friends. I love the art of quilting. Glad you are joining us. Again welcome to the QB!
