Auto Bias tape maker.

Could be very useful. Intriguing what the quilt world is bringing to home sewers from the industrial sewing world.

BellaBoo 05-14-2009 08:57 AM

And of course you need a gadget that will cut the bias strips for you.

:D

Cost isn't too extreme. Retail is $99 for the maker and $79 for the stripper.

Ninnie 05-14-2009 09:17 AM

Wow! What great gadgets. At those prices, I will sadly have to do it the old fashioned way

It looks as if you may need a 'Licence' for that!!! dangerous weapons...

carrieg 05-14-2009 10:32 AM

I can see a guild buying those and making them available to their members. I sure don't need to invest in them!

Izy 05-14-2009 10:35 AM

If you look in the centre, it is just the same as the clover gadget for rolling the edges in, all you need to do is lay your iron on and pull the tape through and tah dah your done!!

BellaBoo 05-14-2009 11:05 AM

I have one of the Clover bias tape makers, it does a good job. This one from what I read about it creases the folds the same way purchased bias tape folds are set and does it in seconds. Neat!

Tippy 05-14-2009 11:27 AM

Hmm, perhaps an investment .. one person buy it and then make bias bindings for others commercially.. might pay for itself fairly quickly.

BellaBoo 05-14-2009 01:15 PM

Any one familiar with Lollypops pre made bindings? I think this is the machine they use.

Darlene 05-14-2009 01:28 PM

The lollipops are very pretty never heard of them before.

littlehud 05-14-2009 05:52 PM

What will they come up with next. You're right, the lollipops are really cute. Looks good enough to eat. Tee Hee

LindaR 05-15-2009 05:08 AM

I'll do it the old fashion way also LOL

karensue 05-17-2009 05:52 AM

Okay I admit it I am a gadget person. I can't find this particular binding gadget - can you please post a link or tell me how to find it on line.
Thanks
Karen

BellaBoo 05-17-2009 06:19 AM

It was presented at Quilt Market. Shops can oder it from a distributor and depending on demand it could take a few months for it to be available.

nellie 05-17-2009 11:08 AM

i got one but will not be here till june they said they where taking orders frist and that in june i will get my hope it works i got the one on top picture

Skeat 05-17-2009 11:10 AM

Here's my thoughts on the cutter...it will be interesting (unless you don't care) how large of a piece of fabric (as in width) you can use. On the wool cutters, you have to cut and rip a piece and then run it thru...otherwise your fabric pulls it w/the weight to not make a straight cut. And, there sometimes is a bit of throw away waste when doing that. Just something to think about..:)But, then again...who can't love to play w/new sewing toys?!LOL Skeat

adrianlee 05-20-2009 06:50 AM

I agree with Izy, looks just like the Clover bia folding tools. I have couple of the Clover ones and thought at the time they were pricey. These new gadgets look really neat and you won the Lotto and had extra coins to spend. So it's back to the old way of measure, cut, etc.

Ninnie

Same here... wait a while, maybe it'll become cheaper...

Lacelady 05-20-2009 03:37 PM

Is this gadget limited to one width of bias tape? It looks as if the area where the strip is will take a wider strip, but the part where the strip is folded would only be one size. Does anyone have a link for more information please?

sandpat 05-20-2009 03:43 PM

Looks very interesting...but for now I think I'll continue to do it the old fashioned way...I'm not in a big hurry anyway.

You naughty, naughty girls....

RedGarnet222 05-21-2009 09:25 AM

Ha ha ha the stripper is cute girls. I suppose if you were a long arm quilter that did this for a living, the binding maker would make a lot more sense to buy. I am sure they would use it to make money with.

I want to know where to get one of those lollypop baskets. My neighbor's birthday is comming up and she would scream in delight over this gift. I had never seen that either.

BellaBoo 05-21-2009 10:34 AM

Easy to find: http://www.popsbindings.com/

man, if I could flop and flap, like your little emoticon, there, wouldn't be nuthin to worry about. He's on crack!

camillacamilla 05-23-2009 04:33 PM

I will stick to my clover bias tape makers and iron. I stick the tip of my iron down where it is touching the metal tip of the bias tape maker. Then I slooooowly pull the fabric out of the bias tape maker, running it under the iron. Works for me and doesn't even $10.

You're right, Izy. Why do I keep forgetting that I have one. Hmmmm, I wonder where it is. Now, all I need is a binder tool. I can't believe they haven't come up with a reasonably priced one for the home quilter.
