I just put fresh blades in my cutters. Sure makes cutting go better!
Anyone else try to keep using them after they are about as sharp as table knives? |
YES!!! and then when I change them I always wonder why I waited so long to do so  :lol:
|
I'm really bad about that - or maybe it's because I'm too tight with money. Then when I finally do, I kick myself for working so hard to cut for so long. New blades are the main thing I use my JoAnns coupons for.

I bought this:
http://www.nancysnotions.com/product...e+sharpener.do I paid $40 for it at a quilt shop. It works great. I like it. It's made for Grace Company by True Cut, Inc. A well known tool sharpener company. |

It states on the sharpener instructions that it will not restore the blade to brand new and will not work to take out nicks caused from cutting over pins. But it will put a sharp edge on a dull blade. It has definitely extended the life of my blades.

Have you ever put in a new blade and had it skip when you are cutting ? My new one is doing that  Any suggestions ?
|
yes - i've had several brand new OLFA ones that skip just one thread!
GRRRRRRRRRRR My suggestions are not very manufacturer friendly  |
Oh yeah, I've done that. It gets to the point where I'm putting my whole weight into cutting the fabric... all the while hoping I don't slip and fall flat on my face. I'm so cheap. :(

I can be cheap in other purchases but not when it comes to my quilting!
